This semester Rho Chi has hosted a series of events consistent with our “Balance Beyond the Books” theme. All of these events have centered on the 5 components of the initiative which include social interaction, fitness, professional involvement, academics, and advocacy. A recap of our semester events include:
- February 4, 2011 Trivia Night: In the month of February, Rho Chi teamed together with the brothers of Phi Delta Chi to host a trivia night with proceeds benefiting the Red Dress Campaign. Over 50 ACPHS students attended the event, many of which wore red! We thank all of those who attended this successful event and congratulate the winning team on their impressive display of trivia knowledge!
- Feburary 16, 2011 Rho Chi Guest Speaker – Dr. Neal Smoller: In order to encourage professional involvement among ACPHS students, Rho Chi invited guest speaker Dr. Neal Smoller, a 2004 ACP graduate, to discuss various issues in the field of pharmacy. Dr. Smoller spoke about his own experiences in pharmacy as well as the future of the pharmacy profession and entrepreneurship opportunities within the field.
- April 1, 2011 SOMOS Convention: This year Rho Chi, along with medical students from AMC, were invited to attend the SOMOS convention held at the empire state plaza. During the Hispanic legislation day, Rho Chi and AMC were asked to provide information to help educate the Hispanic population in regards to Diabetes, Heart Disease, and the importance of medication adherence.
